Double House

How can we envision two non-intrusive houses in the residential neighborhood of Malem, in Ghent, Belgium? We have chosen an ambitious site: the edge of a pond. The two houses are similar in their construction but different. One is underwater, the other underground. Their roofs, docks, and wooden structures let in light and provide seating for passersby. The regular internal wooden structure prevents pressure from causing the walls to implode and subdivides the space to create different areas without walls.
